Trimming audio is one of the most common editing tasks, yet it usually forces you to open a full digital audio workstation just to cut a few seconds. Whether you need to remove silence from the start of a recording, clip a sound bite to its essential few seconds, or chop a long interview down to a usable segment, you need a precise and fast tool — not a feature-heavy editor.
This browser-based trimmer lets you set exact start and end times, preview the result, and download the clipped file immediately. It works on MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, AAC, and more. There is nothing to install, and your audio stays on your device throughout.

How Browser-Based Audio Trimming Works
The trimmer decodes your audio file into a PCM buffer using the Web Audio API, then renders the waveform so you can see exactly what you are cutting. When you confirm the trim range, the selected PCM frames are extracted from the buffer and passed to a WebAssembly FFmpeg encoder, which re-encodes them in your chosen output format.
For lossless formats like WAV and FLAC, the extracted frames are encoded without any quality reduction. For lossy formats like MP3 or AAC, a short re-encode is unavoidable because MP3 and AAC frames are not independently seekable at arbitrary sample boundaries. The encoder is configured to match the original file's bitrate, keeping any quality difference imperceptible.

Frequently Asked Questions
What time format should I use?
Use HH:MM:SS (e.g. 00:01:30 for 1 minute 30 seconds) or plain seconds (e.g. 90). Both formats are accepted.
Can I trim just the beginning or end?
Yes. Set only the start time to remove the beginning. Set only the end time to cut after that point.
Does trimming change audio quality?
For lossy formats (MP3, OGG, AAC), trimming requires re-encoding and may slightly affect quality. For lossless formats (WAV, FLAC), the output is identical.
Online Trimmer vs DAW Export
Opening Audacity or GarageBand to trim a single clip means waiting for the app to load, importing the file, making the edit, and exporting — a process that can take several minutes. This trimmer loads in seconds in any browser tab, performs the cut, and hands you the file immediately, making it the obvious choice for quick, one-off trims.
