What is the 'Longest Edge' resize mode?

Longest Edge resizes the photo so its longest dimension (width or height, whichever is larger) equals the value you specify. The shorter dimension is scaled proportionally. This is ideal for sharing photos at a consistent resolution regardless of portrait or landscape orientation.

Will resizing remove my EXIF data?

No — by default the Photo Resizer preserves all EXIF metadata (camera model, date, copyright, etc.) in the output file. Disable the 'Preserve EXIF' option if you want metadata stripped.

Can I resize to Instagram dimensions?

Yes. Set Width and Height to 1080 × 1080 pixels for a square Instagram post, or use the instagram modifier page for pre-filled settings.

Are there any file size limits?

FileCrank supports image files up to 50 MB for the Photo Resizer.

Does resizing reduce image quality?

Downscaling removes pixel data that cannot be recovered, but the output quality at the target size is high. Upscaling beyond the original resolution will soften the image, as new pixels must be interpolated.

What output formats are available?

The Photo Resizer outputs the same format as the input by default. You can also choose to convert to JPG, PNG, or WebP during the resize step.
